Proprietors

 

The Proprietor of Ponatahi Christian School

 

Membership
The Proprietor of Ponatahi Christian School (PCS) consists of ten members from the Reformed Congregations of New Zealand; the Proprietor also has direct representation from, and communication with, the church consistory.   

 

Roles
The Proprietor has the following key roles: 

Special Character
The Proprietor (with appropriate consultation with the church consistory) defines, guides, monitors, protects, and enhances the Special Character (SC) of PCS. The Proprietor does this by working with school management as appropriate.  The Proprietor also works to ensure that all curriculum teaching is conducted within the shaping influence of our Christian worldview.     

Strategic Vision
The Proprietor provides the school with a Strategic vision of how it is to grow and develop as a Christian School.  This is developed with close consultation with the school Board and the Senior Leadership Team.  It also monitors its implementation and reviews it as necessary.   

Property
The Proprietor, on behalf of the church, owns the school land, provides the buildings, and conducts capital enhancement and maintenance.  All of this is done in close consultation with school management to ensure that the school’s classrooms, administration and support areas, and specialised curriculum areas are all comfortable, convenient, and conducive to effective teaching and learning.

 

These roles are all stipulated in the integration agreement that the Proprietors holds with the Ministry of Education. Furthermore, three Proprietors members also sit on the Board and act on its behalf.
