Attendance Dues

All normal school operating costs, including ongoing maintenance, salaries, and learning resources, are paid for by the Board of Trustees (the School Board) out of government grants.

The School Board is not funded by the government for the land and buildings. As a result, the Proprietor—the Ponatahi Christian School Trust—charges attendance dues to cover capital works, loan repayments, rates, insurance, etc.

Attendance dues to be paid to the Proprietor:

-            1 child: $172.50 per term

-            2 children: $258.75 per term

-            3 or more children: $301.88 per term    (all GST Inclusive)

Methods of payment to the Proprietor
Payment by online banking is preferred. An invoice will be sent out at the beginning of each term. If a family would prefer spreading payments over the year, the school office can assist with this.

School bus costs
There is no charge to families for the daily school bus run.

Costs to be paid to the School Board

  • Uniform, which typically costs between $150 to $250 per child, depending on items purchased.
  • Stationery, which can be purchased through the school’s stationery shop. Note that when write-on books are required for a course, they are usually charged to families. Families do have the option of not buying them, but then the students must not write in them and must return them at the end of the year.
  • School trips: The cost of some extra, optional, recreational activities will be payable by families, but there is no charge for curriculum-related visits.
  • Damage to school property through carelessness or misbehaviour and lost library books are a cost payable by families.
  • The Cost of materials for large technology projects may be payable by families, e.g. when a student chooses to take home his or her finished piece of furniture—otherwise, the finished product remains the property of the school.

Methods of payment to the School Board
Payment by online banking is preferred. Uniform and stationery costs are invoiced at the end of each term. Some other one-off costs payable by families may be invoiced during the term, as they arise.

Please note
The School Board and the Proprietor have different bank accounts. In summary, uniform and stationery costs are to be paid to the School Board, and attendance dues are to be paid to the Proprietor. The correct bank account will be stated on each invoice sent.
